Big Big Cargo Ship

U.S. Coast Guard photo/PA3 Barbara L. Patton

Wow! Look at the size of that ship! You can tell just how big it is by the size of the little boat in front. This shipping vessel carries lots of containers on board, and each container is the size of a truck. In those containers, you will find things like toys, computers, cars, clothing, and even trucks!

Big Navy Fighter Jet

U.S. Navy Photo / Specialist 2nd Class Ricardo J. Reyes

This fighter jet is nicknamed the "Goose Hawk," and helps men and women train to be Aviators. Aviator is what a pilot is called in the U.S. Navy. This jet can make landings on aircraft carriers like this one, miles and miles from any land. I like the red nose on this aircraft.

You can find out more about the T-45 jet at this website:

Big Helicopter and Big Humvee

U.S. Marine Corps photo by Pfc. Jeremy Fasci
Humvees are big 4x4 trucks used by the military. You might know them as Hummers, which you can sometimes see driving around your city. This one is being picked up from the desert in California by a Big Helicopter; it makes that Humvee look like a little Hot Wheels car!

The helicopter is called a Super Stallion, and it is the biggest helicopter in the Marine Corps.

Look at the size of these boots! They are very old, but were moved to a playground and repainted. Aren't they cool looking?

Big Egyptian Pyramid

Pyramids are big man-made mountains in the desert. They are made of massive stones that were put in place by hand. Kings in ancient Egypt, known as Pharaohs, were buried deep down underneath the pyramids. This picture is over 100 years old, and was colored by hand!

Big Old Orange Truck

This truck was made by Studebaker. It's orange like a big pumpkin! This is the kind of truck that be used on the farm, with a flat bed of wood behind the truck cab and sometimes some wood sticking up the sides to make a big box on the back.

I am sure glad it was sunny and hot when I took this picture, because I was sitting on the ground with my camera!

Two Big US Navy Fighter Jets

U.S. Navy photo by Jimmy C. Pan

These are F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets. This picture was taken when they were flying past an aircraft carrier (like this one) and at very high speed. Can you imagine how loud that was? All that steam you see at the back of each plane is happening because they are traveling through the air faster than sound travels. That means they are "breaking" the "Sound Barrier." When that happens, the jet makes a very loud sound, sometimes called a sonic boom.

You can read more about the sound barrier by visiting this website:
